Remarks

• Very variable pectinid of about 60-100 mm height, mostly uniform in colour.
• Azumapecten farreri is more solid than Laevichlamys squamosa (Gmelin, 1791) from the Pacific
  

  Laevichlamys squamosa (Gmelin, 1791)	ribs on the valves are more equal and with less pronounced scales left (upper) valve flat compared to A. farreri

  
  
• more elongated than Scaeochlamys squamata (Gmelin, 1791)
  

  Laevichlamys squamata (Gmelin, 1791)	more circular and right (lower) valve very flat compared to A. farreri



• difficult to separate from the Australian species Scaeochlamys livida (Lamarck, 1819)
  

  Scaeochlamys livida (Lamarck, 1819)	has less pronounced secondary ribs on both valves than A. farreri
